The 1000th F1 Grand Prix Qualifying at Shanghai #Race1000, China. In quite a fitting conclusion to the current championship leader, Valtteri Bottas claimed a very earned pole position, beating his teammate by not very much, only two-hundredths of a second.
Lewis drove a mega banker lap in Q3 but Bottas managed to compile a faster lap in the dash to the chequered flag to snatch pole position. They were ‘not so closely’ followed by Ferrari with Sebastien Vettel pipping his teammate for 3rd position. Redbull managed 5th and 6th with Gasly still behind Verstappen by almost a second. Renault and Haas duo complete the top 10. Daniel beat his Renault teammate by a tiny four-thousandths of a second while Haas duo did not participate in the Q3 runs to complete the final spots.
Kimi Raikkonen had some engine issues on his Q2 run that could have eaten some off his time to start 13th in the race. This also ends his record 53 Q3 appearances starting from Hungary 2016.
